From the perspective of two families and three storylines,” Happy Birthday” tells a story about home, in an all-knowing narrative.

In the story, protagonist Yuen Yuen was looking forward to her father being off from work to celebrate his birthday. Unfortunately, he has to work overtime that day… The reader can discover lots of surprises when they look into the details of illustrations. At the end of the story, the reader will be amazed by the unexpected ending, and how it was foreshadowed by the illustrations.

The book is designed to be flipped from bottom to top, with the father located at the top while Yuen Yuen at the bottom. It not only helps to indicate their distance but also lay out the ending of the story.

Wan Chai, is the place where the author - Adeline grew up. It has been filled with precious memories for her childhood. Despite the changes in some landscapes and people over time, she believes what people truly FEEL can be maintained in their minds. She would like to share this feeling through the story of “Happy Birthday”.
