Cantonese Journey to the West
"Journey to the West" is one of the four great classics of Chinese classical novels. It tells the story of Monkey King, Zhu Bajie, and Sand Monk protecting Tang Monk to the West to learn Buddhist scriptures. They experienced ninety-nine and eighty-one catastrophes on the long journey of learning the scriptures, encountered countless demons and dangers, and finally broke through many difficulties and retrieved the scriptures.
This book selects 30 of the 100 stories in the original Journey to the West and adapts them in Cantonese. Readers can directly use Cantonese for parent-child reading, or they can experience the characteristics of Cantonese through the stories of famous books. Each story is accompanied by original illustrations and a storytelling recording recorded by a local Chinese teacher in Hong Kong.
